The Palace Museum gave out 1,000 tickets on September 19 to limit the number of people attending the commemoration exhibition for the Palace Museum's 90th anniversary, where many rare national treasure paintings and calligraphy pieces are on display. Attendees were instructed to take a number before standing in line to enter the exhibition hall, the Beijing Morning Post reported.
The most attractive exhibit is Along the River During the Qingming Festival, which was painted by Zhang Zeduan during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). According to Palace Museum Curator Shan Jixiang, about 3,000 people have come to the exhibition each day since it opened two weeks ago. The maximum amount of time people have stood in line to get in is six hours.
