"The commemorative coins issued by the People's Bank of China have long been very popular among the public. With the arrival of the 70th anniversary, we issued the commemorative coins worldwide in order to better commemorate the victory and to call for people to remember the history, and cherish peace," said Zuo Xiuhui, deputy director of Currency Gold and Silver Bureau of the People's Bank of China at the conference.

According to Zuo, the set is composed of one gold coin, two silver coins and a nickel-clad steel coin. They are all legal currency, with the gold coin containing a quarter ounce of gold, and the two silver coins contain one ounce of silver and five ounces of silver respectively.

"The front side of all the commemorative coins feature the national emblem in the middle which represents that the victory is commemorated in the name of the nation while the other side says 2015," Zuo said.

The backside of the coins is designed with different themes to tell about the hard-won war and remember the people's contribution.

"The nickel- coated steel commemorative coin is designed for the public and we will issue 500 million while the gold and silver ones are mainly for collectors at home and abroad. The issuing amount for the quarter ounce gold coin is 50,000, one ounce silver coin is 100,000 and the five ounce silver coin is 5,000," said Zuo.

"The public can come to bank outlets and other financial institutions for the nickel-coated commemorative coins and the detailed information can be found on the official website of each bank," he said.

"And for the gold and silver coins, which are solely distributed by the China Gold Coin Incorporation, the public can purchase them at 96 franchised dealers nationwide. For overseas customers, 40 authorized dealers in more than 20 countries and regions are waiting for them," Zuo added.

Besides, the State Post Bureau will also issue a set of commemorative stamps to commemorate the anniversary.

"The design of the commemorative stamps has been completed and the stamps are scheduled to issue on September 3rd," said Zhao Xiaoguang, deputy director of the State Post Bureau.

According to Zhao, the set will include 13 stamps and one miniature sheet and the design is mainly based on domestic anti-Japanese museums and memorials.

The stamps will be sold at more than 3,000 franchised dealers of the State Post Bureau.

China had also issued commemorative stamps to commemorate the 20th, 40th, 50th and 60th anniversary of the victory of China's Anti-Japanese War, Zhao added.
