Chinese markswomen dominated the 50-meter rifle three positions final at the ISSF World Cup here on Thursday by pocketing the gold and silver medals while a South Korean teenager stunned the crowd with a come-from-behind victory in the men's 10m air pistol.

The opening event of the day saw another Chinese triumph as Chen Dongqi and Yi Siling finished one-two in the 50m rifle 3 positions final to repeat what their compatriots did in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol competition on Wednesday.

Chen, 26, led all the way in the final to claim her first world cup title with a total of 456.2 points, 0.8 points ahead of Yi.

"I was feeling nervous during the competition, but I tried to calm down by telling myself that I could make it. And luckily, it went that way," Chen told the International Shooting Sport Federation website. "I am super-excited!"

Yi, also 26, managed to stay in the contention for medals by edging out Adela Sykorova from the Czech Republic by one tenth of a point before she upset Russia's Anna Zhukova with a 10.5 to take second place.

It was the second world cup silver medal for the 2012 Olympic champion, who is still trying to copy her success in the 50-meter range.

The two tickets for Rio 2016 went to veteran Sylwia Bogacka of Poland and Swiss youngster Jasmin Mischler.

Kim Cheongyong, 18, held his nerves and took advantage of his opponents' mistakes to win the men's 10m air pistol as well as an Olympic quota place for South Korea.

It was the second medal in three days for the left-handed Asian Games champion. He had already won a bronze in the 50m pistol event.

"I feel very good," said Kim. "Now I want to go home, and eat rice."

The air pistol runner-up at the 2014 Youth Olympics had already set his sights on the Rio Games.

"I dream of winning a gold in Rio," Kim told ISSF website after the 50m pistol event, adding that right now he has "50 percent" chances of making that dream come true.

Vladimir Issachenko surrendered the leading position with a 7.8 in his penultimate shot and had to settle for a silver with a total of 197.4 points, 1.6 points behind Kim. But he still secured an Olympic ticket for Kazakhstan.

Rashid Yunusmetov finished fifth, adding another Olympic quota place for Kazakhstan. Slovakia's Juraj Tuzinsky took the bronze.

After 11 events out of 15, China led the medal standings with five golds and nine medals in total, followed by the United States with two golds and four medals.

The last ISSF World Cup stage of the season, with 34 Olympic quota places on offer, will conclude here on Saturday.
