Reproductions of Qing-Dynasty royal art will go into production for the tourist-souvenir market, following a deal struck between the Palace Museum in Beijing and a handicraft company in Hebei Province.

The souvenirs are based on intricate wood-carvings from the Qing Dynasty, which ran from 1644 to "the last emperor" in 1911.

The first series will be the Sui'chao'tu - a series of six pictures of Emperor Qianlong's birthday celebrations with his ministers. Palace-Museum experts will advise in the replication of these royal pieces.
