To preserve the historic originality of China's ancient villages, urban planners will not be allowed to build structures in them that incorporate pseudo-classic architecture, the Beijing Times reported.
According to the new regulation, which was issued by the Beijing municipal government, original historic landscapes will not be allowed to be altered by structures, such as building pavilions around ancient wells or ancient monuments, or adding marble handrails along historic roads.
However, the regulation encourages improving infrastructure in historic places, and planners will be able to add necessary public facilities, like spaces for fire extinguishers.
