Nearly half of Facebook users maintained China is friend rather than foe to the United States, an online poll showed Thursday.
The poll, conducted by Xinhua via Facebook between June 20 and June 25, 2015, found that 43 percent of the respondents believed that China is friend to the United States while only 29 percent of them deemed otherwise.
Meanwhile, 33 percent of the respondents thought the two economic heavyweights should strengthen cooperation in international trade, with 25 percent and 17 percent of them respectively favoring fields of fighting terrorism and securing world order.
As to the China-led Asia Infrastructure Development Bank, 92 percent of those surveyed argued that the United States should support or join the initiative, according to the poll that reached more than 150,000 Facebook users.
On Wednesday, senior Chinese and U.S. officials wrapped up their two-day high-level talks, namely the seventh China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue and the sixth China-U.S. High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange, in Washington, with substantial outcomes in the strategic, economic and people-to-people fields.
During this year's events, a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues of common concern were covered, including climate change, interaction in the Asia-Pacific region, managing differences and sensitive situations, the United Nations and multilateral affairs, science and innovation, green ports and ships, as well as fighting illegal trade in wildlife.
