Leaders of the top Chinese legislature and Kenyan National Assembly on Monday pledged to build stronger legislative ties.

The pledge came out of the talks between Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and Kenyan National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi at the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang said China and Kenya have deepened mutual political trust and worked together productively in various sectors, resulting in a vigorous all-round cooperative partnership.

Stressing legislative ties are important part of bilateral relations, Zhang called on the NPC and Kenyan parliament to consolidate political mutual trust, enhance understanding of each other's national conditions and political system and increase exchanges at all levels in a bid to lay a solid political foundation for bilateral ties.

Zhang called for stronger practical collaboration, stressing Kenya is among the first African countries with which China is carrying out infrastructure, information and industrial cooperation.

Zhang called on the two legislative bodies to review the legal documents concerning bilateral cooperation and create a good legal environment for mutually-beneficial collaboration.

Zhang also appealled for more people-to-people ties, urging stronger exchanges in culture, sports, tourism and human resources.

Top Chinese legislator also pledged to enhance international coordination to protect the legitimate interests of the two countries and the developing countries.

Muturi said the Kenyan parliament places great importance on developing ties with the NPC and stands ready to increase exchanges at all levels, strengthen understanding and trust and make new contribution to practical cooperation in all fields.
