Indonesian search officials confirmed six bodies have been recovered so far, including a flight attendant. But as search teams race against time to recover the remaining victims and the plane's body, stormy weather and high waves have forced them to suspend their efforts.  [Special coverage]

This couldn't have come at a worse time, one day after crews first spotted debris and bodies that finally led to confirmation of the flight's fate after it disappeared over the Java Sea on Sunday.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo earlier promised a "massive search," as families of the victims still waited anxiously, hoping against hope that somehow their loved ones have survived the tragedy.

Meanwhile, investigators are looking for the plane's crucial data recorders to help determine what may have caused the tragedy. The main body of the plane, as well as the black boxes, are believed to be at the bottom of the sea.
