Police say working 'methodically' to solve Sydney siege

Australian authorities said Monday that they are working "methodically" to resolve the ongoing hostage situation in a Sydney cafe.

New South Wales Police Deputy Commissioner Catherine Burn said in a televised press conference that the police is in contact with the hostage-taker and monitoring social media.

She confirmed that five hostages have left the besieged cafe, but refused to confirm the number of hostages who remain in the shop.
