Tunnel collapse traps workers in east China

An expressway tunnel under construction collapsed in east China's Fujian Province Friday trapping more than 20 workers.

Rescuers were told that 21 workers were trapped after a 30-meter long section of the expressway tunnel in Longyan City collapsed.

Debris estimated at 5,000 cubic meters has blocked the tunnel, which had been under expansion construction to accommodate the expressway linking Xiamen City of Fujian and Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The search is still under way. No information on the casualties has been reported.
