Cult members go on second trail over murder charge

The Shandong Higher People's Court on Friday concluded the second trail of five cult members alleged to have beaten a woman to death at a McDonald's outlet in May.

Zhang Fan and Zhang Lidong were sentenced to death by an intermediate court in Shandong Province in October, with another accomplice, Lyu Yingchun, given a life sentence.

The final two cult members, Zhang Hang and Zhang Qiaolian, were sentenced to prison terms of ten and 7 years respectively.

The higher court has not disclosed when it will announce if it will uphold the verdict.
