    Indian PM leaves for Myanmar for East Asian Summit

    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday left here for Myanmar to attend the East Asian Summit and ASEAN-India summit.

    Modi left by a special Air India plane for Nay Pyi Taw on the first leg of his 10-day, three-nation tour that will also take him to Australia, where he will attend the G-20 summit, and Fiji, where he will attend an India-Pacific Ocean countries summit.

    Modi said in a statement that "these meetings are taking place at a time of multiple global challenges."

    "I look forward to seeking a global environment that supports our aspirations for economic development and a peaceful world," he said.
