A new phase of the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 resumed last week, in a remote part of the Southern Indian Ocean. This round of searching comes more than six months after the jet vanished. [Special coverage]

Three ships will take part in the search, the GO Phoenix, provided by Malaysia's government, and the Equator and Discovery, provided by Dutch contractor Fugro.

Each ship will have a crew of 25 to 35 people working around the clock. The search zone will focus on an area of some 60,000-square kilometers, about 18 hundred kilometers west of Australia.

The search has been on hold for four months so crews could map the seabed in the search zone.

The first phase of the search involved as many as 26 countries, and was mainly led by Malaysia, Australia and China. The Malaysian government said by June, the search had cost some 9 million US dollars.

The Boeing 777 disappeared March 8th during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.
