Greenlandic Prime Minister Aleqa Hammond said in the capital city of Denmark Wednesday that her government is planning to open a representative office in China next year.

During an interview with local media, Hammond confirmed that the funds for the establishment of the office have been earmarked in the government's 2015 budget proposal.

"It is important to promote Greenland in the world. Greenland has a lot to offer," Hammond said.

Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, is the biggest island in the world with around 57,000 inhabitants. Hammond became the leader of Greenland after winning the 2013 general elections.

Earlier this year, Hammond told Xinhua on the sidelines of the Arctic Frontiers conference in Norwegian city of Tromso that it is important for Greenland to cooperate with China, which her government has a very good dialogue with.

On Wednesday, the Greenlandic government opened a representative office in Washington D.C. as part of the Danish embassy in the United States.
