Rare disease archive set to open

The rare disease branch of the Beijing Medical Association has initiated research into rare disease cases, intending to establish a rare disease archive for patients, reported the Beijing Daily.

According to the World Health Organization, up to 1 percent of people in the world suffer from rare diseases, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and thalassemia. Nearly 400,000 rare disease cases have already been collected from over 30 hospitals in Beijing in the latest 5 years.
