The Palace Museum swarmed with tourists

Since the students' summer vacation started in July, The Palace Museum has already received more than 1,850,000 visitors, the Beijing News reported.

Shan Jixiang, the curator of The Palace Museum said that it is the only museum in the world that receives more than 10 million tourists each year.

The museum has on average received more than 77,000 visitors per day since July 5.

Shan said that the massive influx could increase the risks of a stampede or getting lost among the crowds.

Shan also revealed that they will set up three digital museums by the end of next year, two of which will be inside The Palace Museum and the other inside the Beijing Olympic Park.
