Young adults in China are becoming increasingly more prone to calculi (build up of stones) of the urinary system, especially kidney stones, says Zhang Bao, director of the Urology Department of the Aerospace Central Hospital, the Beijing News reported.

The cause of a hard build up of minerals that form in the urinary system is complicated, admitted Zhang. A hot climate, unbalanced diet, metabolic disorder or the regular consummation of water with high mineral content can all be possible causes. While speaking at the hospital's annual urology academic conference, Zhang advised the best way to prevent calculi is to drink boiled or mineral water instead of drinks like tea, coffee or cola.
