A German high school exchange student scored big with Chinese Net users after flunking a math test on which he complained that math tests in China are too difficult.

A photo of the nearly blank test went viral for its one sentence written in Chinese: "Sorry, I have no clue. China's math tests are too hard."

The student is currently enrolled at a Tianjin high school, according the newspaper Wuhan-based Chutian Metropolis, who also posted photos of his past exams on their official Sina Weibo accounts.

A past Chinese essay written by the student reveals he has been in China for five months.

The origin of the photos is still unknown but the story was verified, according to the Chutian Metropolis.

The comment sparked debate online over China's education system. Some netizens voiced their pride over the level of math taught in China's schools and that other countries could learn from the Chinese system.

However, some also questioned the use of teaching advanced math to young students.
