More visas in search for talent

China is to issue more "talent visas" for high-caliber professionals from abroad, authorities said yesterday.

China began issuing the R visa last year to attract scarce and urgently needed foreign high-level professionals.

Holders of R visas enjoy a longer stay and more convenience for their entry and working in China. Their family members can also be issued with ordinary visas.

China's dedication to international talent is also seen in its move to relax its green card policy. Earlier this week, the central authorities announced they are considering lower application and approval standards for foreigners' permanent residence.
