The Silk Road International Ecological Industry Expo & Green Organic Products (Zhangye) Trade Fair 2014 will be held from Sept 11 through 14 in Zhangye, Gansu province, China Daily learned on Tuesday.
Sponsored by the city government, the provincial department of commerce, the Gansu provincial federation of industry and commerce, and the Gansu provincial branch of the China International Trade Promotion Committee, the expo and fair will provide a key trade platform for the development of the Silk Road economic belt to include countries in Central Asia, Western Asia and Europe as well as China, an large area with a population of more than 3 billion people.
According to Han Xiaohong, general manager of the Beijing Exhibition Co, which will organize the event, the total floor area of the expo and fair will be 20,000 square meters, displaying eco-industry and green organic products for trade, cooperation, investment introduction and information exchanges.
Han said business people and trade delegations from Egypt, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Italy, Pakistan and Tunisia, as well as from China's provinces and regions, will take part in the expo and fair to discuss trade and cooperation opportunities.
Zhangye in western Gansu, a key city along the ancient Silk Road that was established more than 2,000 years ago as a trade channel linking China, Central Asia and Europe, is one of China's important grain, fruit and vegetables production bases.
