Bolivian Interior Minister Carlos Romero Monday guaranteed security for the upcoming Group of 77 Plus China (G77+China) Summit, the Bolivian Information Agency (ABI) reported Monday.

The high-level event gathers leaders from developing countries around the world in the eastern Bolivian city of Santa Cruz from June 14 to June 15.

"We are coordinating air and land patrols. We have made practically every provision and security totally under control," Romero said in an interview with the Red Patria Nueva news network.

Romero said the government, working with regional and local authorities, has taken every precaution to reinforce security in the regional capital of Santa Cruz, including offering security personnel training to combat terrorism and handle emergencies, armed assaults and other potential incidents.

The city has built up a 4,500-strong police force and that number is being systematically increased, said Romero.

The armed forces have also bolstered border security in coordination with the international police agency (Interpol) and Bolivia's immigration service.

Security forces will also have two helicopters available for daytime and nighttime patrols.
