$41m fine for QVOD

A 260 million yuan ($41.6 million) administrative punishment fine has been imposed on Shenzhen QVOD Technology Co Ltd, one of China's most popular video sites, reported China News Service Tuesday.

The local market supervision and management authorities said that more details of the case will be revealed soon and no further information has been released.

The company said in a statement released in April that it will block users from downloading pirated videos and videos that have vulgar content. It also vowed to adopt a new business model of purchasing copyrighted content as well as making original videos.
