What is "Chinese Dream"? Mr Xi Jinping says, "In my opinion, to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the greatest dream of modern China."
Throughout the modern times, China saw its turn from prosperity to decline, and has suffered from frequent invasions. Chinese people have mixed emotions on the rises and falls of the nation. From the very beginning, the Chinese Dream has been related to "taste". Because of the "bitterness" of humiliation in history, Chinese people long for the "sweetness" of being proud and elated. Sweetness is the taste of rejuvenation and the taste of the Chinese Dream.
This taste exists in dreams and in hearts. This taste has been yearned day and night .No one would forget it. What is "sweetness"? It is national independence, national wealth and powerful military, happy livelihood and high esteem…
To obtain "sweetness", the emperors and officials of Qing dynasty opened the chapters; celebrities of the Republic of China made progress. Haiguotuzhi, Westernization Movement, Wuxu Reform, The International Development of China… Each of them was aimed at figuring out the path to national rejuvenation. Progress had been made while difficulties existed. Since its founding, the Communist Party of China deemed it its duty to find out the answer of rejuvenation. Now, China has found the road to revival——the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
As the era advances, "sweetness" also upgrades. In the report to the Eighteenth National Congress of the CPC, "sweetness" is defined as "Five in One": economic growth, political development, cultural prosperity, social harmony and ecological civilization. For the nation, sweetness means two "One hundred years": on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, China will build an all-round well-off society; on the 100th anniversay of founding of new China, China will fully realize the socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics.
On an individual level, "sweetness" means rapid income growth; on the dining table, "sweetness" means people can have safe foods; in terms of environment, "sweetness" stands for a beautiful China with attractive sceneries; in life, "sweetness" is increasingly higher life standard; going abroad, "sweetness" means one can share the honor and pride of being a Chinese……
