The new Zhoukoudian Peking Man Site Museum reopened on May 18 following three years of renovations, the Beijing Evening News reported.

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the discovery of the Peking Man fossils. The new-look museum is built in the shape of a stone implement attributed to Peking Man, an early human specimen who lived up to 700,000 years ago.

Covering more than 8,000 square meters, the new museum is eight times larger than the former one. It aims to collect and protect excavations found at the Zhoukoudian archaeological site. Visitors will be able to view relics in various forms, including a 4D cinema.
