Cities, provinces in N China to promote new-energy cars

The National Energy Administration says it will boost the share of clean energy in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province this year.

Authorities in Tianjin have allocated 6.8 billion yuan as subsidies for owners of new energy cars. The city will also build dozens of charging stations to ensure drivers can conveniently recharge when needed.

Individuals who want to buy a new energy car will not need to enter into a lottery and there will be no sales limits until 2015. Authorities in Beijing have been building one hundred charging stations across the city, and plans to sell 200,000 new energy cars by 2017.

As wind is one of the main sources of new energy, the country will also boost the development of offshore wind power and build more wind farms.
