Gear signal delays plane

A plane from Tianjin to Shenyang, Liaoning province, successfully landed at the Taoxian Airport after having to fly over the airport for three hours due to a gear problem on Tuesday afternoon.

The flight carrying more than 30 passengers took off from Tianjin at 3:50 pm and arrived in the airspace over the Shenyang airport at 5:45 pm, when it discovered there was a problem with the instruments so the pilot did not know whether the landing gear was down.

At around 7:40 pm the plane flew lower and passed over the airport and at 8:17 pm the plane made a normal landing.

Okay Airways Company Limited, a private airline in China, said that a preliminary investigation showed that the pilot did not land without accurate signals from the landing gear. Maintenance personnel are examining it.

The airline also explained that the first low level pass at the airport was to let the staff on the ground check whether the landing gear was down, and when they discovered it was, the plane was able to make a normal landing.
