China and India have agreed on a number of military cooperation programs, including a joint military drill to be held this year. The two sides held their latest round of Defense and Security talks on Monday in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Wang Guanzhong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the People's Liberation Army, and Indian Defense Secretary R.K. Mathur.

The two countries confirmed a 2014 joint drill in a statement, which also outlined continuing naval cooperation on maritime security. Both sides also agreed to hold a number of military exchanges on technology, anti-terrorism, humanitarian aid and disaster relief. After the talks, Wang Guanzhong met Indian Defense Minister A.K. Antony, who stressed India's commitment to maintaining peace in a disputed border area between China and India.
