Wang Yu-chi, Taiwan's mainland affairs chief, has visited Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum.

Wang Yu-Chi, leading a delegation of more than 20 people, arrived at the Mausoleum on Wednesday morning. Wang laid a wreath at the Mausoleum. The former Kuomingtang leader, Sun Yat-sen was a Chinese revolutionary. He is referred to as the "forerunner of the democratic revolution" in China.

After he passed away in Beijing in 1925, he was buried on Mount Zijin in Nanjing. Construction of the tomb started in January 1926 and was finished in the spring of 1929. In May 2008, Wu Po-hsiung paid tribute to Dr. Sun at the Mausoleum, becoming the first ruling Kuomintang Chairman to visit the Mausoleum since 1949. Wang's visit is considered as an important step to promote cross-strait relations on the basis of adhering to the "1992 consensus" and deepening mutual political trust.
