Family doctors increase

The "family doctor" service model will be promoted throughout Beijing by the end of the year, the Legal Mirror reported.

In this model, small teams provide free assessments and guidance to registered households. House calls are available for housebound residents.

Patients at community hospitals will be assigned to their exclusive family doctors by a computer system. This model will provide consistency of care, said Wu Hao, director of the health service center in Fangzhuang community.

According to the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, 8.93 million residents have signed up for the family doctor service at the community level.
