    Supreme People's Court explains new regulation on food and drug case

    The Supreme People's Court has briefed journalists a new 18-clause regulation governing the prosecution of food and drug cases. The court spokesman Sun Jungong says over 13-thousand cases concerning food and drug dispute were submitted to courts nationwide between 2010 and 2012.

    The figure accounts for 6 percent of the total cases relating to consumers' rights. Sun noted that food and drugs cases have damaged consumers' interest, and seriously impacted social stability. China formulated the new regulation to better protect consumers' rights. The new regulation will take effect on March 15th. The new regulation bring clarity to the laws governing the sale of fake products, false endorsements, advertisements and online trade.
