New subway station on Line 9

On December 23, 150,000 passengers streamed through the newly opened Military Museum Subway Station on Line 9. The station allows passengers from Beijing West Railway Station to transfer to Line 1, the Beijing Daily reported.

According to data from Beijing's transportation department, the number of transferring passengers reached 120,000 - double that of last weekend.

The responsible person at Military Museum Subway Station said the passenger flow has slowed because most transferring passengers are coming from the railway station; they tend to carry large luggage and be unfamiliar with Beijing's subway.

To avoid potential safety hazards, Line 9 trains will not stop at Military Museum Subway Station when Line 1 is at overcapacity.
