Guangzhou vice mayor under investigation

A vice mayor of Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, is being investigated for "serious discipline violations," the province's disciplinary watchdog said Thursday.

Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection issued a statement saying Cao Jianliao is under investigation.

Cao assumed his post as vice mayor in 2007. He is party secretary of Zengcheng, a city under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou.
