An official with the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that 11 haze monitoring stations will be set up to analyze the possible harmful effects of haze on human health, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

Wei Jianrong, an official at the CDC, said the 11 monitoring stations will be spread throughout Beijing to guarantee more accurate statistics. CDC staff will visit the stations for 3-7 consecutive days every month to fetch samples for analysis.

In addition, the CDC will monitor emergency visits to Beijing's second- and third-level hospitals as well as the patients' disease statistics. Current data indicates a rise in cardiovascular and respiratory diseases during hazy days.
