Disabled man drives dogsled on Wuhan thoroughfare

An elderly man was photographed mushing a made-for-street dogsled on a major thoroughfare in Wuhan, Hubei province on November 3.

The man drove his three-dog sled in the fast lane of Pingjiang Road through the city's Xinzhou district, according to the Weibo user surnamed Wang who posted the photos.

"I was driving while my son took the photo next to me," wrote Wang, who thought it very dangerous for the old man to ride on the road.

The makeshift sled appears to be made from wooden planks tied together and four wheels attached to the sides. The owner displayed a motorcycle license plate on the back.

Another Weibo user "chiguoguotadie" claimed the same area man had lost both legs and been getting around in this way for years.

Traffic police officer Zhang Ming was quoted as saying although animal-drawn vehicles are not allowed on city streets, the disabled are usually issued a warning instead of a fine.
