Hutong security guards to improve enviroment

The Xicheng district government has introduced security guards to the largest area of courtyard houses under cultural protection in Beijing to improve the hutong environment, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

The area stretches from Xisi Beitoutiao Hutong to Beibatiao Hutong. The district govern-ment plans to try out the property management model in these culturally protected hutong first and gradually expand it to other neighborhoods. The 31 security guards are on duty from 6 am to 10 pm. Their salary and other maintenance expenses are being paid by the government.
