China's Ministry of Education on Tuesday said all schools crippled by a 6.6-magnitude earthquake that hit northwestern Gansu Province in July had been demolished.

The schools that were torn down covered a total area of 42,500 square meters, according to the ministry.

A 6.6-magnitude earthquake jolted Minxian and Zhangxian counties in Gansu's Dingxi City on July 22, killing at least 95 people.

Following the quake, the State Council, China's cabinet, sent a supervisory team to evaluate damage to local education facilities and to direct the reopening of schools.

The supervisory team reported after an investigation that some quake-fractured schools had not been demolished and some schools were prone to earthquake-related disasters.

As of Tuesday, the problems reported by the State Council supervisory team had been fixed, all hazardous schools had been demolished and safety measures had been overhauled for schools, walls, staircases, bathrooms and utility infrastructure, according to the ministry.
