Chinese, Russian FMs vow to strengthen cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov Wednesday at UN Headquarters in New York, and they discussed bilateral and global hotspot issues, including Syria.

During the talks, Wang called for closer bilateral coordination to expedite the implementation of the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between China and Russia.

He said China and Russia have maintained high-level cooperation on international and regional hotspot issues, which, he described as an important demonstration of the bilateral partnership.

Lavrov said that Russia attaches great importance to the arrangement of future meetings between the leaders of the two nations, and will make full preparations to achieve the desired effects.

He also said Russia and China will step up coordination and cooperation in international affairs and contribute to safeguarding world peace and development.
