China issues Typhoon Trami disaster relief response

China on Wednesday issued a disaster relief response for Typhoon Trami, which is expected to make landfall along the country's southeastern coast from Wednesday night to Thursday.

The response, issued by the National Disaster Reduction Commission, aims to minimize potential losses caused by the typhoon, which is expected to make landfall in Putian City in Fujian Province and Ruian City in Zhejiang Province.

The commission said that people living in these areas could be "seriously" affected by the storm, urging civil affairs authorities in the provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guizhou and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to strengthen emergency services and release forecast information in a timely manner.

Local fishing vessels and authorities have also been urged to prepare for the storm.

The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center on Wednesday issued a red warning for possible storm tides brought by the typhoon.

China uses a four-tier, color-coded storm tide warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
