Police will boost patrols in the capital following several violent incidents, according to Beijing Public Security Bureau on Tuesday.

"We will be on duty for 24 hours, and we will especially enhance patrols late at night to curb serious crime," Fu Zhenhua, director of Beijing Public Security Bureau, said.

Police will focus on key areas in Beijing, including downtown, shopping malls, airports, bus and railway stations, as well as tourist attractions.

On July 17, a 27-year-old man from Shandong province stabbed two people to death outside a shopping mall in Chaoyang district. One of the victims was a foreign woman.

On July 20, Ji Zhongxing, a disabled man in a wheelchair from Shandong province, set off a homemade explosive device at Beijing Capital Airport, injuring himself and a police officer.

The next day, a 50-year-old Beijing resident, surnamed Wang, killed a woman and injured three others at a Carrefour supermarket in Xicheng district.
