China's He Zi dominates women's 3m springboard

In the womens' diving 3-meter springboard event, He Zi was expected to keep up China's dominance in the diving at the tournament. Here with the inward 2 and a half somersault, always worried about the divers hitting their heads here. But no problems with her first attempt. A perfect entry with very little splash and it was a sign of things to come.

The Chinese diver finished first in qualification and led after every round in the final. Scoring more than 80 points in each of her first two dives.

China's other diver Wang Han appeared to be the only challenger to He's dominance on the springboard. Wang, long seen as a potential Chinese diving star of the future. Her entry here not quite what she'd have wanted. But nevertheless the Chinese talent was in second place after four rounds in the final.

But it was He who leaped higher than anyone off the taller springboard, setting up powerful spins and twists that clearly stood her apart from the rest, though she would make some slight mistakes in the final dive. The 22-year-old finished with 383.40 points to win the competition. Wang coming second, while Canada's Pamela Ware took the bronze.

He Zi, Won 2 Golds At World Championships, said, "I'm very happy, but there are still regrets. My last attempt was not very good. My confidence was boosted after the London Olympics, and I gained strength by believing in myself."
