C China flash floods leave 4 dead

Four people have been confirmed dead and one other missing after rainstorm-triggered flash floods in central China's Henan Province on Wednesday, local authorities said.

The downpours hit Yangping Town of Lingbao City early Wednesday morning, with precipitation amounting to 86 mm in three hours, and caused flash floods, according to the emergency management office of Lingbao.

Firefighters and police officers were dispatched to the scene on a search and rescue mission.

As of 5 p.m., five people were confirmed to have been washed away by floods. Four of them were drowned and the other missing, said the office.

The flash floods have not triggered landslides.
