Chinese netizens have been invited to vote for a quarterly list of "China's Good Samaritans."

Initiated and sponsored by Xinhua News Agency, netizens can vote for their favorites at www.xinhuanet.com, as well as via microblogs and smartphone applications, between July 1 and 20, according to a jury panel statement.

A total of 10 individuals will be selected from 20 candidates, who have been widely known for their actions and behaviors that have drawn attention to moral and societal issues.

Among the candidates is Liao Zhi, a dance teacher in Mianzhu of southwest China's Sichuan Province, who lost her legs and her daughter in the devastating Wenchuan earthquake in 2008.

Despite serious injuries, she managed to continue her dancing career with artificial limbs.

In April, she also rushed to Lushan hit by a serious earthquake and worked as a volunteer to help the affected residents.

Other candidates include a policeman, a social worker, volunteers, grass-roots officials, a housewife and a courageous teenager.

The vote is conducted quarterly in a bid to promote ordinary people's good deeds and improve moral awareness of the society.
