Sinopec's diesel upgraded ahead of schedule

Beijing (CNS) – Diesel oil produced by Sinopec Group had met all the requirements of National Standard III (equivalent to Euro III standard) by May 30, one month ahead of schedule, according to the group on Monday.

In accordance with the new national standard, diesel oil should have less than 0.035 percent of sulfur content by July 1, 2013.

It's estimated that the new diesel oil supplied by Sinopec will reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by at least 60,000 tons a year.

In November 2012, Sinopec Group released a white paper on environmental protection and promised to supply standard IV motor gasoline and diesel oil respectively in 2014 and 2015.

To achieve the goal, Sinopec has installed "S Zorb" sulfur removal equipment in 10 subsidiary companies, and another seven sets are scheduled for operation before the end of this year.
