Torch for 12th National Games unveiled in Shenyang

Organizers of the 12th National Games of China have unveiled the torch that will light up Liaoning later this year as the best athletes in China compete for national bragging rights.

The torch takes its inspiration from two mythical creatures, the Dragon and the Phoenix, and the shape of the shell of the conch.

Flames and waves mix to form the number 12 on the body of the torch, representing the 12th National Games of China.

The shape of a ship's sails is also incorporated in the design signifying China is on a journey to great rejuvenation. The torch relay will begin on August 8th.
