    Chinese scientist Chen Zhu elected to Royal Society

    Chinese scientist Chen Zhu has been elected as fellow of the the UK's national academy of science, the Royal Society.

    60-year-old Chen is known for contributions to the treatment of leukemia, and the fight against snail fever in Asia. He's a former Chinese Health Minister and served as vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2000 to 2007.

    The Royal Society is a self-governing fellowship of many of the world's most famous scientists. This year it's elected 52 new members. Chen Zhu is one of the eight foreign scientists.
