The first phase of Subway Line 14 and the remaining two stations on Line 10 will be put into operation this month, the Beijing Television said.
Line 14 is 12.4 kilometers long and has six stations in Fengtai district. The line will eventually extend to the east and northeast of the city. At present, it connects the site of the upcoming The 9th China International Garden Expo to Subway Line 10. Trains on Line 14 are composed of eight carriages instead of the standard six, and each train's passenger capacity is 25 percent higher than regular subway trains.
On Line 10, the interval between trains will be shortened from two minutes 20 seconds to two minutes 15 seconds during the peak hours, and off-peak from four minutes 40 seconds to four minutes 30 seconds.
