China's top seed at the World Championship, Ding Junhui, is taking on Alan McManus of Scotland in the first round. Ding though, taking to the felt with a heavy heart as he is remembering the lives lost and forever impacted in this past weekend's devastating Lushan earthquake.
Prior to the start of his match, Ding asked tournament officials to allow him to wear a black armband to honour the dead and injured and also requested they cancel his traditional entry music. After deliberating, World Snooker officials agreed to Ding's request as he was given permission to wear an armband for the first time in the competition's history. Once the match got underway, the first four frames would be split evenly but China's top player would start to assume control of the first session. Ding, reeling off four straight frames to lead 6-2. The winner of the race to 10 will face Mark King in round two who upset Mark Allen on Monday.
