A Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Friday the Chinese side has thanked the U.S. for aiding the relatives of two Chinese victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Lu Lingzi, a student at Boston University, was killed in the bombing. Fellow Boston University student Zhou Danling was injured.

Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said the Foreign Ministry and Chinese Embassy in the U.S., as well as relevant consulate general, have made their utmost efforts to communicate with the U.S. after the tragedy.

Hua said at a daily press briefing that the U.S. has pledged to provide all necessary help.

The U.S. Consulate General in Shenyang issued visas to Lu's parents on Thursday to allow them to travel to the U.S. They will be accompanied by two relatives, said an official from the office.

Hua said China hopes the U.S. will conduct a thorough investigation as soon as possible and bring those responsible for the bombing to justice.

Zhou has been hospitalized and is in stable condition, according to Chinese consulate officials in New York.

She has undergone two surgeries since being admitted to the Boston Medical Center, the officials said.

The blasts happened around 3 p.m. Monday while the marathon was under way, killing at least three people and injuring more than 140.
