Cop thriller "Cold War" has swept the 32nd annual Hong Kong Film Awards, winning 9 of its 12 nominations. The film stars local favorites Aaron Kwok and Leung Ka Fai. It crushed the competition, including detective film "The Bullet Vanishes" which also had 12 nominations and went home empty handed.

"Cold War" is a cop thriller directed by Sunny Luk and Longman Leung.

The title "Cold War" is the code name for a major operation in the Hong Kong Police Force. The film raked in nine awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Visual Effects.

Although lead actor Aaron Kwok was not nominated for his performance, backstage, Kwok said he couldn't be more proud of his fellow cast mates and crew, and he can't wait to get started on the sequel.

Aaron Kwok said, "I think the cast and crew of 'Cold War' are very happy at today's award ceremony. The directors received so many awards today, I think they really deserved them. Leung Ka Fai won the best actor today; Alex Tsui won Best New Performer. And "Cold War" won the Best Film as well. I'm looking forward to 'Cold War 2'."

For Leung Ka Fai, Saturday's win gives him the 4th Best Actor trophy of his career. On stage, he thanked everyone who worked on the film and said that he would thank his wife later in his "own way".

Backstage, when asked the one person he wanted the share the award with, Leung singled out "Cold War"'s producer and investor, Bill Kung.

Leung Ka Fai, HKFA Best Actor Winner, said, "I really need to thank the boss, because he single handedly made the film possible. He talked to every cast member, and he was on the set every day. He took a leap of faith with the two new directors. There would be no 'Cold War' without Bill."

A very emotional Miriam Yeung claimed her first Best Actress Award for her performance in romantic comedy "Love in the Buff". Yeung says she drew a complete blank when her name was called on the stage.

Miriam Yeung said, "When it really happened, I was so emotional. However, I am really really sorry, because I forgot to thank Shawn Yue. He's delivered an excellent performance and that helped me to get into character. He gave me a real feeling of falling in love, which resonated with many people. So I am really sorry. Shawn, please don't be mad at me."

Kungfu star Jackie Chan just received a Best Director Award a few days ago at the 9th Annual Hua Ding Award for his latest action film "Chinese Zodiac".

Though he only picked up Best Action Choreography at the Hong Kong Film Awards, Chan was still excited to set a record of 8 wins.
