Airways and expressways are affected in east China's Jiangsu Province as heavy snow hit the region from Monday evening to Tuesday.
Nanjing Lukou International Airport reopened at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday after closing for nearly 12 hours, with several flights canceled and delayed.
According to latest news from the airport, some airlines have resumed their operations.
Jiangsu's traffic authorities said highways across the whole province remain open despite some minor traffic accidents, but advised drivers to drive slowly and carefully in the icy conditions.
Bullet trains heading for Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou reduced their speeds for safety considerations and some trains were canceled, said the provincial railway department.
The meteorological department of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, has issued alarms regarding the cold snap and road icing.
The Jiangsu educational department has issued an emergency notice on school safety. Educational authorities in the province's cities of Nanjing, Wuxi, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou and Changzhou have ordered a postponement of a day or two to schools' opening day, originally scheduled for Tuesday.
The provincial meteorological station of Jiangsu said Nanjing saw 12 to 21 cm of snow by Tuesday morning.
